Helen Prins is a scientist within the Manhattan project. Both her parents are Dutch. Her mother is deceased and her father has fled to London.

Helen is first introduced in the pilot episode "You Always Hurt The One You Love" as a member of Frank Winter's scientific team at Los Alamos.
Plutonium arrives at Los Alamos in "Prisoner's Dilemma" but none of it is given to Frank's group. In order to steal a few milligrams from Akley's group Helen goes to talk to Charlie. She convinces him to unlock the lab and let her take the plutonium.
In "Acceptable Limits" she is sent to Tennessee along with Charlie Isaacs to inspect a nuclear reactor. They are there under the guise of 'Mr. and Mrs. Donaldson' to check for safety concerns before it goes critical.
"The New World" Helen and Charlie are still in Tennessee and have grown closer as friends. The threat of a nuclear disaster forcing them to work together to come to a solution.

Helen is the only female scientist on Frank's team and also the most educated of the group. Her parents are Dutch and she is bi-lingual in Dutch and English.
She is described by Paul Crosley as "pretty but in an irritating sort of way."
